World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, Item upgrader mod weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For example an item with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the Item Upgrader Mod must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know what will be improved after a reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a substantial chance that the item could become obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item upgrader.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.

You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the Best item upgrader method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.

Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For instance, a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, however, you may also want to think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level of item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, item upgrader mod or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced by a new item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can use up many resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will cause the Best item upgrader to revert to its initial state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an Best item upgrade is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items might require different upgrades than regular gear. For example they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs listed above.
